The short version

Matrix Desktop collects no personal data. The only network request it makes is checking for app updates.

Data collection

Matrix Desktop does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. The app:

Auto-updates

Matrix Desktop uses Sparkle (open-source, MIT licensed) to check for app updates. Sparkle periodically fetches the appcast feed at https://matrix.watch/appcast.xml to determine if a newer version is available. This request contains no personal data — only standard HTTP headers (user agent, IP address). No data is sent to Outergy or any third party beyond this update check. You can disable automatic update checks in the app.

Local storage

The app stores your settings (selected preset, slider values, shuffle preference) in macOS UserDefaults on your device. This data never leaves your Mac and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Third-party services

The only third-party framework used is Sparkle for auto-updates (described above). The app is otherwise built entirely with Apple's native frameworks (AppKit, Metal, SwiftUI). No analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or tracking services are included.

Website

This website is a static HTML page. It contains no analytics, cookies, or tracking scripts. The only external requests are to Google Fonts for typography.

Children's privacy

Matrix Desktop does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Given that the policy is "we collect nothing," changes are unlikely.
