Trinity is the most restrained style in the app, and every setting pushes the same direction: down.

Two palette stops instead of four. Saturation at 0.6 rather than 1.0. The shortest trails of any style, and glyph mutation at a third of the default rate, slower than everything except Palimpsest.

Why two stops changes everything

Most styles ramp black through a mid green to a bright top end, so leading characters burn out near white. Trinity ramps black straight to a single mid green and stops.

Nothing in the field ever reaches the top of the range. The rain has a ceiling, and it sits well below the one every other style uses. That is the effect, and it is one line of configuration.

The cursor is the only thing allowed past it. One bright point per string, against a field that refuses to compete.

The palette

Two stops mapped across cell brightness. Set this strip beside Classic's four-stop ramp and the missing top end is the difference.

The glyph file

This family is shared with Resurrections and the other sequel-era styles. The palette is what separates them.

On your display

This style renders natively at 3840 by 2160 and 5120 by 2880. The glyph atlas picks its mip level from the real backing scale, so characters stay sharp on a 5K panel instead of going soft.

Refresh rate is handled separately from simulation rate. The rain advances on its own fixed schedule and the shader interpolates between the current state and the previous one at presentation time, so a 120 Hz display gets 120 smooth frames without the rain running faster. On battery or under thermal pressure the app drops to 30 or 15 fps and turns bloom off.

Common questions

Is Trinity based on a scene from the films?

No, and none is claimed. Trinity is a Matrix Desktop original with no version in the upstream project. It is a palette built to evoke the character rather than to reproduce a shot.

Why does Trinity look dimmer than the other presets?

Its palette has two stops instead of four and stops at a mid green, so no cell in the field reaches the bright top end other styles use. Only the cursor goes past it.

Which presets share Trinity's characters?

Resurrections, Morpheus and Bugs draw the same 135 character Expanded135 family. The palettes distinguish them.

The ceiling

Every other style here is built to reach the top of its range.

Trinity is built to stop short of it.
