Morpheus is red-purple where everything else is green, gold or blue, and it is built from the same two-stop ramp as Trinity, with a cream highlight added at the very top.
I do not know what upstream intended by it. I do know the README lists morpheus among its versions and then says nothing else about it, unlike nightmare and palimpsest, which both get a sentence.
So this page will not invent one. What follows is what the configuration actually does.
The same shape as Trinity, rotated
Structurally these two styles are near twins. Both run 60 columns, both start from a two-stop ramp at 0.6 saturation, both draw the sequel-era family, and both keep bloom at 0.70 with the high pass at zero.
The differences are small and deliberate: Morpheus mutates half again as fast, and its trails are a third longer. Then the hue rotates most of the way around the wheel, from green to a red that sits just short of purple.
Its cursor stays green. That is the one piece of the original palette this style keeps.
The numbers, if you want to check them
| Setting | Value | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Rain model | layered | Three depth planes |
| Columns | 60 | Grid width, same as Trinity |
| Cycle speed | 0.015 | Half again faster than Trinity's mutation |
| Raindrop length | 0.40 | A third longer than Trinity's trails |
| Fall speed | 0.30 | Row advance multiplier |
| Bloom | 0.70 | High pass at zero |
| Cursor color | #B3FFB2 | Pale green, kept from the original palette |
| Cursor intensity | 3.00 | Tied with Operator for the hottest cursor in the app |
| Cursor fraction | 0.50 | Half of all strings carry the green leader, against a fifth elsewhere |
The palette
Three stops: black to a desaturated crimson, then a cream highlight at the very top, with a pale green cursor sitting outside the ramp entirely.
The glyph file
This family is shared with Resurrections and the other sequel-era styles. The palette is what separates them.

On your display
This style renders natively at 3840 by 2160 and 5120 by 2880. The glyph atlas picks its mip level from the real backing scale, so characters stay sharp on a 5K panel instead of going soft.
Refresh rate is handled separately from simulation rate. The rain advances on its own fixed schedule and the shader interpolates between the current state and the previous one at presentation time, so a 120 Hz display gets 120 smooth frames without the rain running faster. On battery or under thermal pressure the app drops to 30 or 15 fps and turns bloom off.
Common questions
What does the Morpheus preset represent?
The upstream project ships this version with no description. Matrix Desktop's own source calls it the dreamer's code and renders it in deep red-purple. No scene from the films is claimed.
How is Morpheus different from Trinity?
Structurally they are near twins: same column count, same glyph family, the same two-stop ramp underneath. Morpheus adds a cream top stop and a green cursor on half its strings, mutates half again as fast, has trails a third longer, and rotates the hue from green to crimson.
Why is the cursor green when the rain is red?
The cursor color is a separate channel from the body palette, so it can sit outside the ramp. Morpheus keeps a pale green leader against the crimson field.
What is not here
Nightmare gets a sentence from upstream. Palimpsest gets a sentence. This one gets a name on a list.
Writing a story to fill that gap would be the easiest thing on this page, and the only dishonest thing on it.
